Yukata Work

Started working on a simple Yukata for Hrist for February's event this year. Muslin test seems to be somewhat of a success. Never imagined sewing a few 'squares' together would rack my brain so much. Either I'm putting to much thought into this, or I'm making it more difficult then what it is. Planning to do a make or break version of it soon. The kind where you use the real material and hope for the best :P  If it works out, I'll be making one for Lidia, as Lidia's been modeling out Hrist's Yukata for me. Lidia's armor's slightly faster to get off the Hrist's. As hard to believe as that is ;)
Well there's my update/project rant.
Should have photos for the new years! Speaking of.... for those who have been following my little blog this year, special Thanks! It's been a wild and crazy year for making stuff. I'm hoping for another good year.
Have a Happy New Year everyone! :D

Hrist's Helmet Work

A day off! Finally, and it went by all to fast -_- but it is what it is, and it was a rather productive day...

Got a ton of work done on Hrist's helmet today, almost all the modeling work is complete. A lot of checks before I start to get the model prepped for printability.

Lidia's Trip to Saguaro Lake - Photo Story

Had some time to work on a photo story of the photos I took at Saguaro lake about a month ago. Seems like a distant memory now however. X_X

Posted the story on the Dollfiedreams forums.
http://www.dollfiedreams.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=11477

Lidia definitely had a wonderful time. Looking forward to doing hopefully more in the new year.

New Parts and Helmet Work

New parts arrived today here at the Workshop.
Few pieces include:
-Hrist's helmet template
-Hrists final left gauntlet.
-Secret project. (More on this near January)

Finally can get these gauntlets done once and for all :P Hrist has been wearing new and old variations for months it seems.
As for the helmet template, it seems to have a real good fit. Now I just need to find some time to continue modeling it for the final print. Been working several jobs lately and it's sure taxing any free hours I have these days..

I did manage to do a video for the sake of my creative sanity a few weeks ago which it seems I forgot to post on my blog! >_>

Looking forward to starting the painting of these parts!

Hrist and Lidia Portraits

Lidia and Hrist had some fun the other day, having their photos taken. Hrist seemed a bit more enthusiastic then Lidia did however...

Or maybe Hrist is just happy showing off her armor...

Both Lidia and Hrist just need their boots and helmets finished! And weapons haha... Lidia long been waiting for her sword. :(

Carb Rebuild 2014

Been a while since I've done any updates, been real crazy here, working like a wildman. Nothing really new, nor is anything planned except Hrist's helmet work still, and completing her other gauntlet that needs to be ordered still too... Holiday season for retails upon me, and it's looking like times in short supply. Hopefully I'll raise some funds to get that helmet done soon though! :D

I did manage to finally get around to rebuilding Rose's carb today, and I installed her new braided cables. <3 Definitely a world of difference with these, vs the oem vinyl ones. Hopefully someday I can get the clutch cables to match too. I went with Black Pearl for the cables. :)

New CV Cap.

Carb after the sonic bath treatment it received. Removed all the grit and grime and brought back a bit of a shine. I wound up applying a bit of bare metal silicon sealer to some of the stainless steel screws and other parts. Rose had been through quiet a number of rain storms this year.

New cables! Look at that lustrous gloss!

Armor Update VIII

Torso armor's pretty much finished! :D I took some photos of Hrist in her armor to use for that VolksUSA contest. Photo I submitted can be found on VolksUSA's Facebook page. Dirrect link to the image. "Hrist's Armor submission photo
Hoping to maybe win one of the heads for a possible Lenneth dollfie someday >_>; It's always nice to dream about future projects though. :)

Depending on my crappy budget, I am hoping to order her last gauntlet some time this month, if not. definitely next month. I plan to order a test demo band for her helmet, I think that'll be my next part I work on.  Which will have to push my modeling skills even further, it being Hrist's cornerstone piece, so to speak. My biggest worry right now is dollfie heads are big by nature, big head = bigger helmet X_X So hopefully it won't look to ridiculous.

Armor Update VII?

The last of Hrist's Body armor arrived today. Little bit of work today, can't be as crazy as the other parts were...

Parts in photo look glossy, as they are glossy! :P Actually it's the pre-treatment I use before priming that's still drying giving it that glossy look. And yup! That's definitely another gauntlet in that photo I ordered. Going to use it as one more test one, I may wind up ordering another gauntlet if it turns out good so Hrist will have a pair...
Stuff in the little bag, is all her little gold plates for her dress, or soon to be good :)

All that's left for my Project Hrist, is one more gauntlet, (wtf I've got 7 already!) boot design, and her helmet! :D

Armor Preview

Been a while since I've updated X_X busy working on this armor though in my spare time. Not even sure people read my posts anyway :P Paintings all done. Sewing's pretty much done on it, minus a few more straps to make, and lots of hand sewing in store for the jump rings... that'll be fun...
Definitely excited how it's been taking shape lately.

Need to finish assembling her sword stuff as well. semi-incomplete holder there. I wound up repainting the entire thing for consistency reasons.

Hrist's 3D Printed Main Armor

Big updates today!!! Exciting news, at least for me, Hrist's main body armor arrived, and actually fit, better then I expected! *phew* Now if I don't F-up the paint job on this project I'll be quiet happy, not to mention Hrist too ;)

Lots of work to do on this for painting. I'll have my work cut out for me with sanding and stuff.

All the parts that arrived including the flap, not shown in the image below. One of Lidia's painted side pads, and the microphone painted! :) Sadly I realized I really need an airbrush for those obscure colors. doing a hand painted brush job, really ticked me off, putting it in nice terms... >_> I had to put on slightly thicker paint then I wanted to, which washed out some details in the bulb area in order to prevent brush streaks X_X
Bag on the left is all the various pieces that attach to the main armor. Middle bag is a reprint of her upper arm armor that I completely remodeled in pieces rather then a complete unit to make painting less frustrating.

Luckly Lidia was already semi-apart (being cleaned and her new outfit/update being still made) so I was able to use her to quickly test out the size and fitting of the armor.

Thankfully it all seemed to fit just well! :D Lidia was able to sit, and move her legs. All I need to do now is eventually order the hip plates now that it seems to work and I'll be ready for the sewing part, or I might just start on the sewing part soon anyway >_> hmm... :S

New Sword Blade Work

Whole load of parts arrived the other day, 15 pieces in all. I've got quiet a lot to do. Hopefully by the end of the week the last of the parts for the moment... will arrive.
I started with the new blade. I'll have to do a side by side comparison once it's finished. Right now in just the prime stage, it's a lot better quality then the old one I made over a year ago. Hrist should be happy :)

A lot of the parts I ordered, or in fact all of them are just the white flexible. I didn't do polished, (usually takes an extra week) I might have to suck down the extra wait though vs the sanding. So far it's going well, just needs patience. Lots of waiting between prime coats and sanding...

A few parts waiting final paint coat.

Updates

Lots of stuff going on here. Put in an order for some new parts. Also received Hrist's new blade, which is already looking way better then my attempt over a year ago. I also redesigned her upper armor a bit in pieces, should make painting a lot easier I'm hoping. Those should be arriving with the other ordered stuff. Desk is so messy at the moment I have no room to really take photos X_X I should have photos of the new stuff when it arrives though, or this new blade gets finished.

Parts Arrival

Lots of parts arrived the other day.

Black parts in the photo above are ABS printed gemstone via MakerBot. Really crude. and was done using the highest res they had on their machine. White is Shapeways printed gemstone and microphone.
ABS Needs some work, and I don't plan to rig up a acetone mist bath for it just yet... for now I plan to most likely stick with Shapeways.

Painting experiments with the failed printed pieces. This gave me a lot of room to experiment with, without fear of fail. I think I've made some really nice progress in smoothing it down a lot with primer and sanding. I did this a little differently this time, and definitely plan to use on the final microphone.

Armor Update

Phew, this weeks been madness. Lots of real work, busy stuff, and trying to find time to craft. Wish I could cut out the first one and do productive stuff rather then other bs. Anyway, before this goes on to a rant rave... :P

Lots of experimenting, I've been working on that new shapeways refining process, seems to be procuring better results, can't even remember if I've mentioned I was working on that in prior posts. But it's looking very promising.
Also been trying to find time to model, model, model! Hrist's armor's going to be so neat when I get it finished. So excited about this I don't even care how much it might cost to print haha.
Also thinking about re-printing that blade for her sword I made a while back so I can use my new refinishing process on that. and make it a bit more durable.
Loads of work to do still! It may look almost done... but it's not even 50% done yet for pre-print prep work, still need the hip guards too, and those have to be functional so she can sit, and stuff, once I scale out the rest of the armor to proper size, I can develop the necessary working devices for her lower armor as well as clips for the dress support holder thingy's.

Hrist is one step closer to shak'n off her gowns for good! :P

Still waiting on Lidia's new collar gem to arrive from Shapeways, I managed to sew up a workable version of her collar that I deemed 'worthy' only took 8 or 9 attempts >_> got lots of Lidia collars around here though :D
Sheesh I haven't even had the time to take photos of stuff lately X_X Hopefully soon! D:

Lidia Meets Homura

Photo Story of Lidia and Homura is 'finnaly' up and live on Figure.fm! Yup, it sure took a while for the script editing... finding time sucks, but I blame Poofie on this one! :P This photo story is a collaboration between Poofiemus and myself. Looking really forward to producing some more photo stories down the road! This one was my biggest one yet that I've done. 48 photos in all!

http://www.figure.fm/en/post/53780/Lidia+Meets+Homura.html

Hope you all enjoy! :)

Just the usual work on modeling for Hrists armor, and hopefully wrapping up loose ends on her outfit. Been heavily side tracked in my free time watching the Dota 2 Internationals this year. Real exciting stuff, for me anyway.

Hrist's Gown Part VII

Working a bit lately on finishing up Hrist's armor bits. few painting issues. I needed to address. I will soon be experimenting a bit on those broken pieces with some new finishing ideas I have in mind.

Some update photos on the gown, well older ones that I promised to post after the doll meet, and a week later getting around to doing that >_>;;;; where does time go? D:

Yeah, these photos are a bit sub average >_> Taken with my phones camera.... it's bad. but sometimes it serves its purpose...

Still working on the two rear drape belts. Only managed to finish one so far X_X And am currently deciding if it's a style I'll use or the other one I had in mind which seems to not be working right now...

Till next time...

Hrist's Gown Part VI

Hrist's outfit's 90% completed! All that's left is the making of her 2 rear belt drapes which will require some intensive embroidery, if I stick to the plan >_> Also at the last minute I've pondered the idea of a hip flap panel thingy... no idea what it's real name would be, if it has any, but I'll call it the hip flap panel thingy for now.

Hrist flaunted her new outfit at the June - Arizona Dollfie Meet.

Which sure turned a lot of heads for an uncompleted gown. Needless to say Hrist was quite happy.
Lots of dolls at the meet this month. Hrist did keep her distance from most social situations, aside from stepping in to save Agatha from a dragon cuddle attack.

Hrist: We're friends now! Dragons are just misunderstood Toothless?

Agatha being smothered by dragon cuddles.

Hrist saving Agatha from certain peril.

Lidia's dragon subjugation training has come in handy for Hrist.

Creamy Mami!

Now that the fun is over, it's back to work on finishing up her gown! Hopefully which, it will be completed before I see Poofies Toothless completed. ;) The race is on!

Hrist's Gown Part V

Lots of work lately, I think I'm barely sleeping with this project >_> Might be slightly effecting my job too, dazing off thinking about the gown and what to do next... Not a good combination. But work is definitely progressing rather swiftly. I haven't had a chance to take many photos, and those that I have, I can't stay focused long enough to transfer them to the PC and get them ready for posting :X so! The next post should have some photos of the project so far :D I'm debating on keeping it a little bit 'black' atm since there's a doll-meet this up coming Saturday I'd like to be able to unveil this project there... but only if I can manage to get it finished :X

Anyway, next post will have photos! :D And more news.

Hrist's Gown Part IV

Some new updates for Hrist's gauntlets and custom hands. Works nearly 90% done! All that's left is refining and adding a final protective coating on. All these photos were taken with flash, which makes it look a lot more glossy then it actually is at the moment... >_>

Both shown in the photo below, I had to re-bore out the upper armor just a bit to allow it to fit on easier. Everything fit perfectly. Really liking how the gloves have turned out so far. I'll have to buy a second pair of sword hands for Lidia soon so I can modify them as well.

Now, for the main news with the new outfit! Hrist's new outfit is pretty much under full work now, any ounce of free time (which is extremely few) I've had lately has been dumped into work on it. Starting to get excited about this project, hopefully it turns out as well in the end...

Hrist's Gown Part III

Some updates for Hrist, I received her new hands from Volks the other day and couldn't wait to dive into this project. I decided to not print 3D hands as of now... it seemed more efficient to just modify the hands and still get the vinyl feel to it as well. Plus I can paint her nails too for her ;)
Paint cure + Viynl's kinda wonky too so far. Few concerns I have with this, but time will tell. :) Back to waiting on paint to dry...

Shown here, is the first coat on after the primer, plus the armor plates added to the thumb. Wrinkles will be more smoothed out eventually, I wanted a relaxed fabric look through out the gloves. Pretty excited how this will turn out in the end.

As for Hrist's other project... it's a massive one. as usual. >_> Hrist never settles for anything less!

This project, I'm doing a liner for. I also wound up recreating her dummy profile for a bit more 'fitted' Even with all this new stuff, I think my sewing still sucks hardcore though. X_X But it is what it is.

Embroidery work for the main sleave part.

Hrist's Gown Part II

Managed to crank out a concept plan that I'm happy with, and finally finished creating most of the pattern pieces for Hrist's new gown tonight. Starring at all my sketches and prototype designs I get this feeling this will be quiet a fun, yet nutty project at the same time.
Should have some new photos to post on my next post once the cutting, and shaping process begins! Most likely I'll begin with the liner for this.

Hrist's Gown Part I

Well, crafters ADD hit me hard, I started a new project -_- I've been drafting up a new outfit for Hrist over the past week, maybe a bit more, I lost track, but it looks to be another new gown for her. Hopefully it won't turn out to gaudy, I've got some nice ideas in mind for this one. Not idea if my skill levels able to process what I have in mind though X_X

Pattern Drafting.
I've got a pretty solid idea of what I'm planning to make. So currently I am drafting out fitting pattern pieces, this project might be big, as I have currently over 20 parts on draft at the moment, which needs some alterations and adjustments to be made over the next few days...
Bought the fabric already for this gown. And am contemplating adding some custom hand embroidery to this project as well. I'll see how things go before I opt in for that task...

Hrist - Armor Work III

Almost finished with one of the gauntlets. Haven't had a lot of time to work on these yet. Seems to be shaping up rather well so far.
Few more coats and final coats should have it sealed and done :) Hoping to have it all completed with in the next week or so. Depends on how much time I have available. I've also gotten side tracked with drafting up designs for another gown for Hrist, as well as finishing up a photo story that will hopefully be finished soon as well...

Arizona Dollfie Meet - May 2014

What a fun day at the monthly dollmeet in AZ hosted by kymaera!

What a huge turn-out, lots of dollfies this month with one of the usual not being able to make it, or three more dolls would have made it for sure.

Hrist was given a new camera! Special thanks to creationdss87!
Hrist got to test out a motorcycle, I think she was the only one at the meet qualified to ride one actually. ;)

Biggest shocker was Hrist socializing and making new friends at this meet, seen here with Mitsuki .  I think she's been watching a bit to much My Little Pony, Friendship is Magic though, Hrist once told me she could really relate to Twilight Sparkle, except she doesn't write Lidia a progress letter... anyway moving on from that. :P

The meet was a great fun time!

Can't wait for the next meet! :)
