Lidia Face-up

Lidia got a complete overhaul today. A brand new DDH-07 head with face-up. Feel like I'm getting better with painting doll heads. Wish I could tame down the shaky hands a bit more though :P

I wasn't quiet expecting the 07 to have so much volume in the jawline area, as compared to Hrist's 02. Makes the head feel a lot bigger, even though the head caps are pretty much the same, if not smaller. All the volume in the 07 seems to be centralized in the jaw area. I do like the larger gap between the eyes. This made installing the eyes a breeze. Lots of room to work with.

Block in and lets get this crap started! What disasters await?

Here we go with the final painting before sealing.

Special thanks to AnimatorAR for giving Lidia a white head cap!
Overall this project was hastle free, problem free and went smoothly.... big shock I know O_O
I did try some doll eyelashes in the eyes. I did like the look and feel, but... the lashes seemed to long. and when the eyes were put in the angled downward. That just drove me nuts. So I took them out, and for the time being no lashes...

Hair on! Ugh, time to tame this stuff down. Getting Lidia's hair just right seems to be a mission impossible challenge for me. I think I utterly suck with styling. What's more sad is the hairstyle is just a simple bob -_- Ah well, always something to do.

Lashes and bad hair... oh my!
The above photo was taken with the eyelashes still in. I tamed her hair just a bit... but the way the lashes were angled it just wasn't appealing to me X_X It did add a nice toned down feel to the eyes with those cast shadows the lashes gave. but other then that... not sure.

Arizona January Dollmeet 2014

Hrist showing off her nearly completed shoulder armor.
Great time in Chandler for this months dollmeet. Lot of interesting new things, and fun times. The weather starting to warm up already too, felt like spring. Sadly, it was an early morning meet. And Hrist had to wake up rather early to get ready for the event. I don't think that set her day off in the right way... ;)

Hrist:  First I had to wake up early, now I'm surrounded by these 'crazy' dolls! I think I'm going to be sick...

A tree climber!

Really nice blue eyes!

A rather nice outfit!

Group shot of some of the others.
Quiet a number of dollfies at the meet again, also quiet a few of the regulars were missing.

Agatha got tired of the park bench.

Group photos by the lake.

Agatha and Hrist adventure out during the meet.

Agatha: Train sighted Hrist!
Hrist: Looks to be a big steam train.
Agatha: We bagged a big one this time!
Hrist: It's getting closer.
Agatha: Should be passing through here any moment!
Hrist: Time to get off these tracks.
Agatha: *gasp* Right you are Hrist, let's make a run for it!

Hrist: Wait Agatha! We should have our photo taken in front of the passing by train...!

One of my favorite photos from the event.
Hrist: Agatha sure can make a run for it...  she'll be pouting about that for a while...

Agatha: Can schum one  passh me another round..? *hic*
Bartender: I think you're at your limits there miss.
Agatha: I schtill can't believe I missed havin-sch my photo with that schteam th-rain... *hic*

Can't wait for next months Matsuri Festival.  Hope to see a lot more there!

Hrist's Shoulder Armor I

Hrist's shoulder armor arrived the other day. Quicker then I expected! Looked like a good fit on preliminary test. I'm excited to jump into this project. Also my surprise project arrived with this order as well, and has full function from the designs I added for this 'secret' project. I'll have more information on this in mid February most likely :) For now though! Hrist's shoulder armor productions underway! :D This project was rather fun on the modeling end as I pretty much entirely used Zbrush for it's construction and details, which held up rather well on smaller scale print.

I'm going to try out an experimental process I stumbled on during a painting accident on I had on a prior project. Got my fingers crossed it may be a bit more effect, if not more disastrous. X_X Won't know till I try though at least.
As for the colors I'm going to jump ship on Hrist's  VP2 dark purple theme for a VP1 jet black metal. A decision I'm making mainly due to the fact I can't seem to locate a hue of purple that will work, and not look like Silmeria's purple... not to mention black from VP1 looks a lot nicer I personally think. :)

Prototype rendering of the armor
Expect more details on this project in the next week or two. I'll be converting her arm armor in the up coming weeks also to get those prepared for printing.
Lots going on this month! Waiting on Lidia's new head to arrive hopefully by the end of this week as well. Face-up time!

Lidia's Belt Buckle

Lidia's Belt Buckle arrived today. The crude locking device I rigged up works thankfully, I was rather nervous it wouldn't. All that's left is to get this thing painted and then start using the leather I got for this belt. That other crap I currently have on Lidia, synthetic faux leather = :( looks like she grabbed a belt from an extremely old, or used and abused thrift shop. Hopefully this leather won't be to thick though for the other parts...

I'll start more on this buckle once Hrist's 'special' gift arrives sometime this week. I think she'll be pretty happy when it does :)

Commission Sword Work III

Phew at long last, the swords are complete! Now to let them dry for 48 hours. I couldn't wait that long to take photos though. I might make some minor adjustments on them once they completely dry. I still need to find out if my client wants me to get those chains for the sword bases or not.
Lidia and Hrist posing with the new blades.
Most issues have been corrected. I went with a duller metal color for these blades, mainly cause the reflective chrome paint I was using, made ever bump from WSF show up like a serious sore thumb on camera.
I'm pretty happy with the end results, still think my painting sucks big time though X_X Might have been easier with an airbrush if I only had one of those X_X

Now for the epic patience part waiting on these to dry.  Now to enjoy some photos with my lovely combat/weapons expert Lidia, demonstrating the new blades.

My favorite photo, I might play with this one more and make a larger photo print out of it!

Better not be any Dragons around here!

I seriously think my next project that deals with swords.... will be to recast Hrist's blade in Resin and see what kind of results I can achieve with that.
